Matisse Acrylic Medium MM40 Super Heavy Gel Medium (Gloss Medium)

Build and shrinkage is better with Heavy rather than Light or Standard Impasto. This also dries clear if you leave it for a few days in dead of winter no heating it still dries clear glossy which is fine. I'd say the shrinkage is about 35-40%. If you load a location too thick, you are going to wait a week for it to dry. Better to do your build in layers and develop technique to adjust the depth you seek before starting to mix this with pigment. Matisse structure is a good combo with Heavy as it bonds without cracking or peel. Don't add water to the mix. Water will tend to bleed out of this Heavy Impasto Medium if you try to water it down and it tends to get gluggy so just go buy Gel medium and mix that with the heavy as they are compatible for adjusting consistency. Note that you can get sharp edges with Heavy IMPASTO Medium unlike the other building compounds this product is little bit like using butter to spread on toast, Product has a limited usage time, so wash your tools and brushes, don't just let them stand in water and don't leave the container unloaded because it's curing a layer on the exposed part. If you seek rough chunky finish - leave the lid off and carefully scrape layers of Heavy Medium from the container and apply with a palette knife. It is less smooth and is drying as you apply it even trying to rework is tricky because if you disturb smooth finish it may break up and become crusty instead.
