art style

Many people have an idea of what they like in their lives and often look at their art and see a glimpse of their ideal art style. Unfortunately, this isn't always easy to determine. There are so many different art styles; it can be challenging to find one you truly love. However, with a step by step guide on finding your ideal art style, there should be no problem getting to know what kind of art you love.

making an artwork

Step One: Identify what you want to do.

The first step is to identify what you don’t want to do. To figure out what kind of artist you are, the best thing to do is come up with a list of things that you would never want your artwork or drawings to look like. This could be anything from realism, minimalism, abstract etc. Once you have a clear idea of what styles and themes won’t work for your art, it becomes much easier to decide on something that will work well for it!

Step Two: Step outside your comfort zone.

Step two is to step outside your comfort zone. You can do this in various ways, but the most effective way would be to find a style that you think might work for you and test it out! For example, try drawing from reference photos or imagination with the new art style just to see how different it feels compared to what you have been doing before. If it’s easy and fun, then go ahead and stick with it! If not, then simply try another approach until something clicks into place. It’ll feel natural eventually, so don’t worry about looking silly while trying things out first! Learning any new skill takes time, even if it seems simple on paper, like picking an art style.

Step Three: Be confident about your choices.

The third step is to be confident about your choices. If you’ve tried various styles and nothing has felt right yet, that just means that it isn’t the time for those kinds of artworks! Instead, keep working on what makes you feel good as an artist until something clicks; even if this takes years, it will be worth it in the end, so don’t give up hope!

Step Four: Choose a name for your style.

There are no rules here; simply name it whatever feels best for you. It could be something as simple as “The Style of My Imagination” or something more complex like “Stylized Realism.” It doesn't matter how long it is; just make sure you're comfortable with the name and that it has meaning to your work!

Step Five: Decide what this new art style will be used for.

Will all future artwork simply fall under this one umbrella? Or will there still be some room leftover so other styles can shine through once in a while? Again, this step isn’t necessary, but now is the time to write them down!

Step Six: Take a break.

If you get stuck, step back and take a break for a little bit! It's always better to step away from your work when it isn't going the way you want rather than forcing yourself to keep working on something that just doesn't feel right yet. This step is super important, so don’t neglect it even if things are feeling tough at first.

Step Seven: Watch online tutorials.

If all else fails, try looking up some online tutorials that cover the topic that's giving you trouble! YouTube has plenty of great videos covering many issues, so be sure to provide step-by-step instructions on finding your art style step a try and see if that works!

And there you have it! A step by step process on how to find your artistic identity. There's no need to worry if something doesn't work out too; just keep trying and remember that everyone has their ups and downs when learning new things, which can get in the way of our progress sometimes. Never give up, though, because we're all capable of finding what makes us stand apart from others.
