Winsor & Newton Artists’ Picture Cleaner is a natural resin and oil emulsion containing ammonia, formulated for cleaning varnished oil paintings.
It works by dissolving linseed oil oxidation to help remove surface dirt and oxidation products from old varnish.

Directions for Use
- Shake thoroughly before and during use.
- Test the cleaner on a small, inconspicuous area before proceeding.
- Clean only a small area at a time using a clean cotton wool pad.
- When cleaning is complete, carefully remove any remaining cleaner with distilled turpentine.
Important Information
Batch colour and settlement may vary. Shake well to ensure the product is properly mixed before application.
Professional care recommended: Paintings that require old varnish to be removed should be entrusted to a competent picture restorer.
Unvarnished paintings may also be treated with Artists’ Picture Cleaner, but extreme care is required. Stop immediately if any paint colour begins to transfer onto the cotton wool pad.
Always test before use. Use in a well-ventilated area and follow the safety instructions supplied with the product.
