Travel Diary

Arche is my favourite go to travelling diary, the paper is superior and compared with other brands the paper is able to deal with additional water and able to lift colours if required as well as remaining true without fading . I also like the texture of the cold press compared to other papers and have been using it for ten years. This is also a good size for being on the go

Great Quality Paper

First time using cold pressed Arches paper. Normally use Winsor & Newtown 300 gsm. I sampled colours and techniques on cheaper paper, W&N and Archers and found Arches to hold most vibrancy of watercolour paint. Slower drying, and was able to easily lift paint of surface. Responds well to water. Used W&N Cotman paint.

Great paper in a great format

An Arches "Carnet de Voyage" was the very first watercolour sketchbook I purchased – many years ago now. At the time I was attracted by the size and format; I didn't realise that I'd also happened on one of the best watercolour papers around. Beginner's luck! Then they appeared to have gone out of production. :( So I've been delighted to see them back in production (or at least available once more in Australia).

While obviously not as good a price-per-square-meter as a buying full sheets of the same paper, you're paying for the convenience of pre-cut and wire-bound paper, which is what makes these great for location sketching. And the value is still excellent compared to other wire-bound 100% cotton sketchbooks of similar size.

Can’t go wrong with Arches

Great little book. Handy format for one larger landscape or 2 portraits per page.
