  • Pulp-dyed black card cover and back board provides rigidity for more comfortable working. Very high quality, can also be used as a medium for creating mixed media work, for example
  • Metal spiral binding on the short side

Great paper in a great format

An Arches "Carnet de Voyage" was the very first watercolour sketchbook I purchased – many years ago now. At the time I was attracted by the size and format; I didn't realise that I'd also happened on one of the best watercolour papers around. Beginner's luck! Then they appeared to have gone out of production. :( So I've been delighted to see them back in production (or at least available once more in Australia).

While obviously not as good a price-per-square-meter as a buying full sheets of the same paper, you're paying for the convenience of pre-cut and wire-bound paper, which is what makes these great for location sketching. And the value is still excellent compared to other wire-bound 100% cotton sketchbooks of similar size.
